Thank God for.....Tourists!!!!

011507 - Paris, 1-2 No Limit

OK, so when you saw this title you thought, "Another Black Jack story?" No not this time, I went down to the Paris to play in the 3:30pm $65 tournament, kinda just wanted to risk little plus I am wanting to play a few more tournaments, so I thought this would be good practice.

When I arrived they were sold out as they only accept 50 players. There was a 1-2 No limit game going so I sat down. The table did not have a lot of money, and the players seemed to be pretty tight, I was about to leave after 3 hands, then one of the tight players. 'Lost His Mind.' He went on a run where he raised every hand for 3 button rounds to $22 preflop. I once called one of his raises with Kd 6d, the flop of Jc 7h 6h came down and I check raised all in. He folded and I showed. Then a few minutes later while in middle position I limped with Kc Qc, another player limped and then our hero made it $22 "to go," as he would say. I called as did this other player. The flop of Ks 7d 3d came down, normally I would bet out with this hand, but I was not sure what the other player in the hand was holding. Plus knowing that our aggressive player liked to bet I figured with any piece if I check raised he would call, so i checked as did the other two players, "Oops" is what I thought. The turn brought the 7s, now I led out and bet $70 which was a little more then a pot sized bet, then the limper called, leaving $27 behind???? WTF??? The original raiser folded, before the river card was delt I announced all in, and the other player called. The 6d cam on the river I said NH and showed my KQ, he shook his head, rolled over JJ and flipped his cards in. Sweet I scooped the pot, waited til the blinds hit and I bounced.

I had sat down with a goal of making $150 in the game, I was up $200 so I left. This was good for me to take a win, even though small, I want to build some momentum, I know I have been playing more loose lately which for me is not good. I need to reign it in more then what I have, so my goal for the rest of the month is to play more straight forward, play more tight, but also change my style against certain player. Finally I have realized lately that I have been trying to bluff down too many pots, I need to remember it is 1 -2 No limit and most people love to show down here, where as in 2 - 5 the players are not much better, except, you can move them off a hand a little more often.

OK so the goals are. Build a series of 5 or more straight winning sessions, only bluff 1 time per session and leave if I start getting deep into a game. Wish me luck, I could use a little at Poker.

You should start posting results at the end of your blog. Like daily profit, monthly profit, and like another stat... like total hours or something thats time based.
